Handscript reminiscences of Laura Ann Hawn Patterson regarding her overland trip from Independence, Missouri (May 18, 1843) to Oregon City, Oregon (November 19, 1843); traveled with the Applegate family; describes bateau trip from The Dalles to Fort Vancouver; mentions spending first Christmas in Oregon with Dr. John McLoughlin; recalls the Whitman mission's grist mill and other mills in Oregon built by Patterson's father, Jacob Hawn.
